Parent Homework

How It Works

A powerful way to involve parents

As a teacher, you now have a powerful way to involve parents in fire safety basics. What's even nicer is how easy it is for you and your students' parents.

Simply ask parents to participate in a homework assignment. Ask them to go to www.firefacts.org, select the "Parents" tab, and click the link under the "Parent Homework" section.

From there, parents will be asked to read "10 Simple Steps to a Safer Home" and "Practice Safety as a Family." Once they've studied, they will be able to finish their homework, a one-page ten question test covering the basics of fire safety in the home.

Once they've completed the test, an email will be sent to you, the teacher, letting you know that they have completed their homework. They can also print out a completion page as verification in case the email is not received.

Want to know how easy it is? Take the test yourself. It only takes a few minutes, and you may even learn something that will help make your home "fire safe!"

We've even created a handout for you to send home with your students. Feel free to make any changes to match your needs.
